Disaster Response deployments are generally a 30 day commitment. Housing situations can vary widely from staying in a community center basement to a FEMA camp to camping out in the area. Due to this variety, the packing list can vary from the general list below, and staff will provide more details for your specific deployment. However generally on disaster you can expect to have access to laundry facilities, so you won’t need 30 days worth of socks and underwear.

Items marked with a red asterisk below are things we have available to loan out. Please ask if there is anything else that you need, as we may be able to get more loaner items as needed!
Required Gear
Large duffel bag, backpack, or plastic tub to store gear and clothes*
Day pack (20-35L)*
Two pairs of long work pants (no big rips/holes; Dickies or Carhartts are a good choice, jeans not recommended, overalls or coveralls are acceptable)
Sturdy work/hiking boots* (needs to reach over your ankle and be mostly leather, steel toes not recommended) (Chainsaw crew members, see the "Chainsaw Crews" tab for extra boot requirements!)
Rain jacket*
Regular clothes for after the workday/days off (a few outfits worth)
Tent* (May not be needed)
Sleeping bag*
Sleeping pad*
Pillow
Headlamp* or flashlight
Wool or synthetic socks (Avoid cotton! 5 pairs recommended)
Underwear (at least 7 days worth)
Fleece, wool, or synthetic jacket/sweater* (multiple layers recommended)
Reusable water bottles* (at least 4 liters total capacity for crews working on muck & gut, tarping, chainsaw, or other active outdoor tasks)
Toiletries for the duration of your deployment (toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush/comb, menstrual products, hair washing products, soap)
Medications for the duration of your deployment
Watch with alarm or any alarm that is not your phone
Additional Required Gear for Cold Seasons (anytime other than summer)
One or two pairs of wool, synthetic, or silk long underwear tops and bottoms
